Vincentino e.V. was founded by Sandra Maischberger in Berlin in 2008. Since then the organisation has been supporting cultural projects at schools in Berlin’s problematic districts of Neukölln and Kreuzberg, where there are many schoolchildren from disadvantaged backgrounds and a lot of “young people who feel let down by society”.
The Vincentino media workshop allows children and young people to engage and interact with the complex world of media. In collaboration with the school teachers, the workshops promote teamwork, self-confidence, social skills and media skills. The kids don’t just learn about creative scripts and storyboards, camera and sound, editing and digital post-editing. They are also encouraged to consider the responsibilities associated with publishing specific content, such as a web blog. The workshops are an excellent source of valuable shared experiences, giving the youngsters creative access to art and culture, which improves their self-confidence and social competence.
As a result of the cooperation with the TUI Foundation the project will be extended to include digital/virtual projects with the Adolf-Reichwein School for children with learning difficulties and the Albrecht Dürer High School in Neukölln.
