To understand culture you have to go beyond the theory and experience it, experiment with it, explore it and disrupt it. The first personal experiences of creativity and culture, of developing and implementing major projects as a team, are all milestones on the path to developing social competence. That’s what Culture Comets is all about.
The Culture Comets are awarded every two years for outstanding (cultural) projects at schools in the Hanover region by the TUI Foundation and the Stiftung Kulturregion Hannover organisation.
The objective is to promote ideas and engage young people outside the rigid framework of school curricula and regulations. Outstanding projects are rewarded with EUR 10,000 in prize money and a high-profile award ceremony event.
Schools and teachers assume extensive responsibilities that often take them to their limits, yet they still produce all kinds of amazing cultural projects. And we want to pay tribute to these projects with the Culture Comets award – because we care about culture and we care about their future.
We’re proud of the initiatives developed by the schools and schoolchildren and look forward to receiving their many entries, exciting ideas and independent projects every two years.
